HOLE IN THE SKY was #18 its first week on the New Christian and Gospel Songs and New Releases Chart according to iTunes Store USA!  This is a big THANK YOU to all of you who are buying the album!

The digital copy of the new album HOLE IN THE SKY (HITS) is now available for pre-order on iTunes! The pre-order period will last until April 23, and during this time, the digital copy is specially priced at $3.99. The first single from HITS is “Mama’s Faith”, and it will be available immediately during the pre-sale period.

“Mama’s Faith” (© 2015, ASCAP, written by Wright, Swaff, and Joshua Harrison) is being released as a song to honor moms during Mother’s Day season.  The song is about my mother, and the following lyrics sum up much of what she has taught me by her example:

God is great, God is good

Live your life the way that He would

Give and share

Laugh and sing

You’ll see the joy life can bring

And guess what? After much begging, Mom agreed to sing on “Mama’s Faith”! Many of you already know that Mom had a singing career around the time she finished college. One of the highlights of it was when a TV station based in Charlotte, North Carolina had open auditions for someone to headline a summer television show. People came from everywhere, stood in line, auditioned, and Mom was selected. The name of the group was Kitty Wright and the Southern Playboys, and they sang popular songs from the day.

It is such an honor to have this special recording that features my super-talented mom, Kitty Wright. I hope you enjoy it!

The official release date for HITS will be April 24, and the digital copy will be available everywhere starting that day for $8.99. The physical CD will also be available on April 24 for $10 (these sold out within three days of the pre-release party! Thank those of you who made this happen!)

We had a great time at the pre-release party to celebrate the upcoming new album! It was great to see my friends and family there. The band was incredible, and the facility was so nice. We also sold all of the CDs! Yes, it was another one of those best days. Thank you for this! I will be sharing the new songs with you over the next few weeks. Merry Christmas from Mama’s Hippopotamus Music!

I just wanted to thank all of you for the amazing support you gave me during this year’s trip to Kentucky! It meant the world to me to know that you were right there with me during the IMEA Awards. I am sincerely honored that IMEA included me again this year, especially since there are 12,452 artists on the ReverbNation global charts in the Christian/Gospel Music category!

I shared last year in this post that God’s hand was all over the Kentucky trip, and the friendship that I have had with my fellow prayer warrior David and his family this past year has been a blessing beyond measure. This year, I had with me in every pocket I could find the original cross, a new cross, a letter from David’s daughter, Ella, and a card and Bible verses from David and his wife, Elizabeth.

I posted over the weekend that I was nominated for an International Music and Entertainment Association (IMEA) Award this year! As was true last year, this is a complete surprise! IMEA recognizes independent musicians, and I am so excited to be nominated as the Christian/Gospel Male Artist of the Year.

IMEA is also giving everyone the opportunity to vote for nominees before the ceremony. The voting portion counts 1/5 of the final tally. The deadline is August 27. I received word this week from Colt Chambers and the nice people at the International Music and Entertainment Association (IMEA) that I have been nominated for Christian/Gospel Male Artist of the Year! The full list is here. This is a complete surprise, and one of those “handfuls on purpose” moments I have talked about many times. It is just amazing to be given such a wonderful honor, and I feel blessed beyond belief! I am so thankful to IMEA for thinking of me this year.
